A bit about us
We are a small team of experienced Psychologists and Mental Health practitioners that provide professional and ethical services in a confidential, relaxed, and supporting environment.
Our commitment to providing services with (and not to) our clients, ensures that the client’s voice is heard and valued, and that their growth is efficient and effective. We prioritise our clients’ general wellbeing as much as their psychological health.
We provide counselling services for a wide range of behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties within the psychological and developmental contexts. We work with individuals and couples, young people, adolescents, and adults in Cairns, Tablelands, Cape York, and Torres Strait regions. We also provide telehealth and videoconferencing services through Zoom and other platforms.
Please contact us if you require further information or would like to discuss a referral to one of our dedicated staff.

Dr Jeff Nelson
Clinical Psychologist
Jeff is a clinical psychologist who is more likely to focus on helping to improve a client’s overall wellbeing and future prospeccts than on reducing the impact of immediate concerns. His approach was moulded by his interest in existentialism and the early psychological and philosophical thinkers and applied in a manner that prioritises purposeful relationships, client safety, and authenticity in the clinic. He believes that clients more or less create their own therapeutic outcomes, but does as much as he can to assist and guide their processes.
His practice includes strategies most associated with the cognitive-behavioural therapies (CBT, REBT, and Schema Therapy), early philosophical approaches, client-centred and compassion-focused therapies, and the works of Adler. It is important that the strategies used in the clinic are those most suited to and efficient for each client.
Jeff’s previous academic interest in neural functioning honed his understanding of how the brain works, how best to utilise psychometric assessment tools, and how to assist cognitive remediation and adaptation of functioning to cognitive limitations.
Jeff is happy to work with people from a broad range of cultures, environments, histories, and aspirations. He is an Aboriginal man from the Cairns region.
